DAY 4 - Your Favourite Place
Shortly after I started this I remembered I can’t draw locations/settings/backgrounds for fuck, so it was an interesting learning experience with a lot of reference photos. Wouldn’t want to do it again though, hahaha.
Science World isn’t necessarily my absolute FAVOURITE place, but it’s iconic and it was cool to draw. Planning a drunken field trip there with my team from VFS soon.
I’ve committed to just being a day behind; don’t feel like burning myself out and making crap drawings as a result.
DAY 2 - Your favourite animal. And goddamn I learned I hate drawing animals.
AND
DAY 3 - Your favourite food. This was easy.
I know I’m one behind, we’ll get 4 and 5 in tomorrow. It was a busy weekend!
No posts ‘coz I got a job after school in game design (miraculously!) and I’ve been beez with that. But I’m settled in now, and about to start drawing again. My first jump to get back on the horse is the 30-day drawing challenge above. I’m gonna start June 1st and I’m super excited for it.
On top of that, I was thumbing through some old folders and found the second image. Last summer I cracked open an old, barely-used sketchbook from 2006 and found a series of sketches and doodles. I decided to see how much I’d improved, and tried to re-do each picture as I currently draw. The top is Kai Sol, my standard swordsman, the middle is Leset, a very dour demon general, and the bottom is Erik Trucido and Christian, a vampire hunting duo. (Christian is a vampire that hates vampires. He punched shit.)
This picture is a stern reminder that I have improved, even when I panic that I haven’t; it’s just another good reason to push forward. And I love looking at it and mocking my 18 year old self. What a punk he was.
Fone’s got some new tattoos, but more updated linework, and detail on the jeans. I think I’m getting close to wrapping up with this stage of him!
Added in the Chakrhyme straps, plus a little more detailing. Fixed up some ugly lines a bit, and added shading to his teeth and reflections to his sunglasses. Really enjoying this.
More of Fone!
First of all, I made his mouth wider—it seemed a little kind of smashed on the front of his face before, and I think this makes his smile look a little wilder and confident, which is exactly what I want him to exude.
Added some basic shading, and a few other colours, as well as the linework and colour for his weapon, which I am incredibly proud of:
The CHAKRHYME. A massive Discman strapped to his shoulders and chest (haven’t done the straps yet), it has two enormous, etched Chakrams inside that he fights with. Both of them double as CDs, allowing him to listen to music when idle or still fighting with one.
You know Fone is deadly serious when he pulls out both parts of the Chakrhyme; it means he’s going to stop the dope jams just to do battle.
